Fall seems to come early to the mid-west this year and Winter Texans are coming early to the island too. The Winter Texan season is always one of my favorite times of year. With them comes great island events, live music, discounts at restaurants and general enthusiasm for all things island.
Most years, the majority Snowbirds arrive on South Padre soon after the holidays in early January. Some of the folks who own properties here or claim Texas as their residence arrive sooner in October or November. But, this year it seems like the early birds are even earlier and the majority are quitely escaping the cold of Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin and getting here as fast as they can!
The Winter Texans usually prefer to rent condominium properties for 2 or 3 months. The montly rates are designed to accommodate their extended stays. Bookings for the best properties are quite competetive. Many Winter Texans will reserve a unit before they leave in the early spring.
