Everywhere else in the country it seems to be snowing. But, here we are enjoying 60 degree temperatures during the day. It may not be optimum shorts-weather but, it is awfully nice compared with everywhere else.
In addition its the busiest month of the year for events. February is full of things to do. My calendar is rapidly filling and the month has just begun. Some of the highlights are shopping with the SPI Market Days and the outdoor Valentines Mercado. There are environmental events like the Outdoor & Wildlife Expo and the Surfrider Shindig at Louies Backyard. The Humane Society does a great fun fundraiser called Isle Ditter Dog that all dog owners enjoy. Plus, the Winter Texan Fish Fry (its not good for you but, really, really good) is a good and inexpensive lunchtime event. I'm also making plans to help out at one of the island's Beach Cleanups and to even attend a few of the Mini Lecture Series events. Oh, and don't forget the winter plays that the El Paseo Arts Foundation is sponsoring.
Yep, February might be a time for hibernation for the rest of the country but, on South Padre its the busiest month of the year!
