Have you ever visited the South Padre Island Birding, Nature & Alligator Sanctuary before? If you haven’t, then you are in for a treat on your next vacation. Staying in one of our South Padre Island vacation rentals this summer will keep you and your family close to the fun. Let’s look below at what you and your family can experience this summer at the South Padre Island Birding, Nature & Alligator Sanctuary.
SPI Birding & Nature Center
One of the best things about visiting the SPI Birding and Nature Center is getting to see birds that you may not see at home. They have several different attractions that you and the family can experience on your next visit. To get a great view of some pretty amazing birds is to head over to the 5 Bird Blinds where you and the family can see birds up close and there is even a 5-story tower that has some pretty spectacular views of the island. Seeing both birds and nature is easy since you will be able to walk on over 3,300 feet of boardwalk. Just think of the wildlife, birds, and nature that you can see with all of these amazing attractions.
Is That a Gator?
If you have someone in the family that has a love for reptiles, then look no further. Over at SPI Birding, Nature Center and Alligator Sanctuary are where you can get an up-close view of an Alligator. This is like no other sanctuary that you’ve ever been to. Think of a local zoo that you may have visited within the past year or so, did you get to see a gator up close? Probably not, but when you visit the Alligator Sanctuary you will see more than that. One of the main things that make this sanctuary even better than others in the area is that they will be released back in the wild in Gator Country in Beaumont once they reach 6 ft. The Texas Parks & Wildlife will toe-tag the Alligator and will keep an eye on them. You don’t want to miss seeing Big Padre & Lady Laguna either as they are both “famous” here on the island!
See Nature from Home
One thing that you and your family can enjoy during this time that most of the country is under the “stay at home” ordinance, is to check out the live webcam. This webcam will show you live views of the South Padre Island Laguna Madre Bay which happens to be from the 5-story tower at the Birding and Nature Center. Who wouldn’t want to check it out and see what the water looks like, the nature center looks like and well the weather? You may even get lucky and see a bird or two while you are viewing the camera.
While there are many other reasons as of why you should visit the SPI Birding, Nature Center and the Alligator Sanctuary, these are the few we wanted to share with you.
