South Padre Island has become one of America's most popular destinations for families as well as singles seeking a sun-drenched, fun-filled summer vacation or just some retrospective time away. Once you visit you'll see why we've been mentioned on more than one occasion as the #1 Hot Spot for beach lovers. The kite boarding, bird watching and unlimited water sports make this an ideal location for any vacation any time of the year. These are just some of the reasons thousands make South Padre Island their go-to-spot to unplug and leave the stress behind.
Your Winter Escape
With the mild winter climate you will find here and the charming small town feel it's no wonder many desire to escape the snow and cold of the northern climates to spend their winters here. Many Texans even make South Padre Island their preferred home away from home during the winter months. It's just a peaceful and relaxing winter retreat that is unparalleled by anywhere else you may consider.
Every year, during the month of March, spring breakers return here. This has been a favorite destination for college students for as far back as we can remember. The bay front nightlife and relaxed atmosphere it provides is a perfect location for kicking back and just relaxing. The beaches are rejuvenating and offer opportunities for volleyball games, sand tennis, boogie boarding, surfing and so much more.
As the "Fireworks Capital of Texas" we take our fireworks seriously here. Watch the sky light up on either the Laguna Madre Bay or over the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Every Thursday and Friday night from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend the Entertainment District Summer Fireworks Displays will take place. These are best viewed from South Padre Island Entertainment District located between Palm Street and Red Snapper Street. Every Friday and Saturday night from Easter Weekend through Halloween Weekend come out and watch Fireworks on the Beach. All fireworks displays begin shortly after dusk.
