It’s the island’s top beach- a mile-long stretch of open sand and water. You are bound to see families of all sizes utilize the distinct soft beige sands to make giant sandcastles.
About the Event
Residents of the Sandcastle Capital of the World decided to celebrate and own the distinction truly. This is where one of the best South Padre Island events was created.
The 1st Ever Family World Sandcastle Championship is slated for April 5, 2021 – May 26, 2021.
Aspiring participants can register online at wedontdoboring.com. All required tools will be supplied, and family teams will participate and compete as a group. Registration is expected to cap at around 30 families in total.
You even have the chance to meet with some talent, like famous YouTube star Andy Hancock of www.sandcastlelessons.com.
Registrants will need to book a stay on the island for participation. This is to avoid day travelers coming to the island without providing any registration. We have a variety of South Padre Island rentals for you and a family of any size!

Sandcastle Lessons
We get a blast out of seeing families enjoy the many local activities. And if you talk to enough locals, you’ll find that just about everyone, at one point or another, has participated in real sandcastle lessons in South Padre Island, TX.
Free sandcastle lessons will be provided 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. For fairness, the free classes are only encouraged for amateurs, giving them the proper tools to gain a possible upper hand on the sandcastle building professionals. If you are an absolute newbie, don’t stress! You will learn everything you need to know from authentic professional sandcastle builders.
You will learn all aspects of sandcastle building, including how to gain height, how to create firm sand to hold the shape, how to make intricate designs, and how to do it fast but also patiently. This encompasses things like the science of sand chemistry, physics, construction, and form. Your family will get a grip on hand stacking, drip castling, and soft packing techniques. What makes it even more remarkable is that various family members can work as a team, helping pick up strengths and weaknesses to create the ultimate sandcastle.
Sandcastle lessons are not solely available before the event. Families up to five can receive lessons from a bonafide master in the sandcastle building throughout the year. Create dynamic, intricate, and impressive sandcastles worthy of a picture back home. You will get access to all the tools you need, like shovels, buckets, and small hand scrapers, to make an impressive castle. Lessons are usually two to three hours per family. These lessons are available through We Don’t Do Boring, the same local team putting together the big family event!

There are things to do in South Padre Island outside of building sandcastles (and watching experts tackle the delicate sandy craft).
